Draft, awaiting clinical review
The copy on this page is written and is waiting on clinical sign-off. It carries
noindex and stays out of the sitemap until a clinician reviews it and a review
date is recorded, which is what makes the medical statements on it attributable.
Manual therapy covers hands-on techniques applied to joints and soft tissue: adjustment, mobilisation, osteopathic technique, myofascial release and taping.
Used here as part of a treatment plan rather than as a standalone course. Hands-on work can reduce pain and restore movement, which makes the exercise and loading side of treatment possible, and that is generally what produces the lasting change.
Which one do you need?
Joint stiffness or restriction, particularly spinal. Chiropractic Adjustment.
A whole-body manual approach. Osteopathy.
Muscular tightness, trigger points, restricted soft tissue. Soft Tissue & Myofascial Release.
Support during return to activity, or swelling management. Kinesio Taping & Bracing.
How it relates to physiotherapy
Client-approved wording. Use verbatim.
Physiotherapy works through assessment, hands-on treatment and a graded exercise programme, aimed at restoring movement and function over a course of sessions. Chiropractic and manual therapy focus on joint mechanics and targeted manual techniques. Many patients here have both as part of one plan. If you are unsure, book a general assessment, deciding which applies is part of the first visit.

What sits under Chiropractic & Manual Therapy
Each is scoped tightly so they do not overlap. If you are not sure which applies, book a general assessment.
What it is used for
Conditions we treat with this
Generated from the condition pages themselves, so this list and the treatments named on each of those pages are always the same list read from two directions.
-
Ankle Sprain
twisted ankle
A ligament injury that heals faster than the balance and control it takes away. That gap is why sprains recur.
-
Cervicogenic Headache
headache coming from the neck
A headache generated in the cervical spine and felt in the head. Identifiable by pattern, and testable in an assessment.
-
Frozen Shoulder
Loss of shoulder movement in every direction, including when someone else moves your arm. Slow, and staged.
-
Heel Pain
Under the heel, behind it, or around the sides. The location and the timing are what separate the causes.
-
Neck Pain
Several different problems produce similar-feeling neck pain. Working out which one you have is what determines the treatment.
-
Plantar Fasciitis
pain under the heel, worst on the first steps of the day
The commonest cause of heel pain. A tissue-loading problem, which is why it responds to loading rather than to rest.
-
Tennis Elbow
pain on the outside of the elbow
A tendon problem at the outside of the elbow, far more often from work and gripping than from sport.
Before you book
Frequently asked questions
Is manual therapy safe?
Techniques are selected after assessment and after screening for anything that would make them unsuitable. Everything is explained before it is done, and nothing is done that you are not comfortable with.
How many sessions will I need?
Decided at assessment. We do not sell fixed packages upfront.
Can I have this alongside physiotherapy?
Yes, and many people do. It is often one plan rather than two.
