Athlete Testing Lab

Objective numbers instead of estimates, strength, power and side-to-side asymmetry.

Draft, awaiting clinical review

The copy on this page is written and is waiting on clinical sign-off. It carries noindex and stays out of the sitemap until a clinician reviews it and a review date is recorded, which is what makes the medical statements on it attributable.

Physical testing that produces measurements rather than impressions. Strength, power output, jump performance and left-to-right asymmetry, recorded so they can be compared over time or against return-to-sport criteria.

The value is that it replaces guesswork. “It feels about the same as the other side” is usually wrong, and the difference matters when deciding whether someone is ready to return.

Who it helps

You are rehabilitating and need to know whether you have actually closed the gap. You want a pre-season baseline. You are tracking a training block. Or a coach or surgeon wants objective data before clearing you.

Conditions we treat with this

Used across sports injuries, particularly ACL Tear & Knee Ligament Injury, Hamstring Strain and Meniscus Tear.

How it works

  1. Briefing. What is being tested and why, and a proper warm-up.
  2. Strength testing. Measured, both sides, at the relevant joints.
  3. Power and jump testing. Where applicable to your sport and injury.
  4. Asymmetry calculation. The side-to-side difference, which is often the number that matters most.
  5. Report. Written, with your figures against the relevant benchmarks.

What to expect

Bring training kit and sports shoes. Testing is demanding but not treatment, you should arrive fresh rather than after a hard session.

You leave with numbers, an explanation of what they mean, and where relevant a comparison against return-to-sport thresholds.

Why Le Yantra for this

  • Measurement rather than impression
  • Reports you can share with a coach or surgeon
  • Repeat testing to track change over a rehabilitation block
  • Integrated with Sports Injury Rehabilitation rather than sold separately

What it is used for

Conditions we treat with this

Generated from the condition pages themselves, so this list and the treatments named on each of those pages are always the same list read from two directions.

  • ACL Tear & Knee Ligament Injury

    knee ligament injury

A twisting or pivoting injury to the knee's stabilising ligaments. The rehabilitation determines the outcome more than the surgical decision does.

  • Hamstring Strain

    pulled hamstring

A tear at the back of the thigh, with one of the highest reinjury rates in sport. Strength at long muscle lengths is what changes that.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be injured?

No. Baseline testing before a season is arguably more useful, because it gives you something to compare against if you are injured later.

What is a meaningful asymmetry?

It depends on the sport, the injury and the test. Thresholds vary and we will explain what applies to your case rather than quoting a single number.

Can I be retested?

Yes, and that is where most of the value is, a single test is a snapshot, a series shows progress.
