Draft, awaiting clinical review

The copy on this page is written and is waiting on clinical sign-off. It carries noindex and stays out of the sitemap until a clinician reviews it and a review date is recorded, which is what makes the medical statements on it attributable.

Treatments used to support recovery between training sessions rather than to treat an injury: soft tissue work, cryotherapy, compression and similar modalities, used during heavy training blocks or competition periods.

Honest framing. Recovery modalities can help how you feel and how ready you are to train again. Evidence that they meaningfully accelerate tissue recovery is more mixed. Sleep, nutrition and training load remain the things that matter most, and this page should say so rather than overselling.

Who it helps

You are in a heavy training block. You have competition days close together. You train most days and want to manage accumulated fatigue.

How it works

  1. What you need. Depends on your training load and where you are in a competitive cycle.
  2. The session. Selected modalities, applied by a clinician.
  3. The rest of recovery. Practical guidance on sleep, load and nutrition, which do more than any modality.

What to expect

Sessions are passive and comfortable. You should feel better afterwards rather than worked.

We will be straightforward that recovery modalities are a supplement to sleep and sensible training load, not a replacement for them.

Frequently asked questions

Does this actually speed up recovery?

It can improve how you feel and how ready you are to train. Evidence for accelerating tissue repair is mixed. We would rather tell you that than oversell.

How often should I come?

Depends on your training load. During a heavy block, more often; in an ordinary week, probably not at all.
